Judge Daniel Wheatcroft's written Critique of Dallas for the 2007 Nationals
Open Dog, Sable & White class
WINNERS DOG - Grandgables Let"s Show Off —As an athlete hopes to peak for the Olympics
this dog peaked for the National. He has beautiful head planes, correct corners,
proper depth of skull, good finish of muzzle/underjaw and beautiful ears placed perfectly
into the rough. His eye is of correct size, not too small, and set properly into the skull. All
of the above combine to give an exemplary Sheltie expression. He has a delightful
temperament which is inquisitive, intelligent and all male. He not only “asked” to be Winners Dog
he almost demanded it! As a matter of fact he grabbed the ribbon out of my hand when I
awarded it to him.
He doesn't have a big white collar, which one doesn't notice, as his neck is the proper length,
beautifully arched and well placed into the shoulder. He has a strong short level back and his
overall length as measured from Withers to the Ischium as compared to the Shoulder Joint to
Ischium presented superior balance resulting in an outstanding outline. He has a long tail that is
placed properly into the croup. His correct Femur, Tibia and well let down Metatarsus provided
him with a strong correct rear. His front was correct with his Withers to shoulder joint to Elbow
joint forming a 45-degree angle and his elbow joint is equidistant from the ground and from the
withers. The combination of this correct structure supported unrestricted movement. This dog
could Herd sheep all day long and walk into the confirmation ring at the end of the day ready to
compete.
